ASU Robot Camp 7up

Final Report

June 8 to June 25, 2009

In the week one of the three-week long camp, students learned Alice programming language and used the language to program a movie and a game. The movie and game are converted into video files and uploaded into the YouTube.

In the week two, students started to learn NXT robotics programming language and used the language to program the robot to traverse a maze autonomously. Students used touch sensor and ultrasonic sensor to help the robot find its way in the maze. You can find the videos of the maze traversing in the team page or in the link below.

In the week three, students used the NXT language to program the robot to collect using a movable arm or cage. These missions prepared students for the games of the First LEGO league competition.

You can find the videos of the ball collecting games in the team page or in the link below.

·         Software development in service-oriented architecture

The closing ceremony was held on the last day of the camp, June 25, 2009, from 9:45 to 11:45am.

·         Dr, Ronald Askin, the director of the School of Computing, Informatics and Decision Systems Engineering, Arizona State University, welcome all participants and parents, and gave an opening talk;

·         Ms Patricia Smith, Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering, Arizona State University, and the First LEGO League (FLL) Arizona Coordinator, presented the FLL and encourage students to form teams to participate in the FLL competition 2009.

·         Mr. David Gordon, principal of the Grand Canyon Prep, Tempe Arizona, reported the cooperation between ASU and his school in creating a robotics class and forming an FLL team.
